10 Foods for 5-Month Hair Growth in 2022 [Updated]

They say ‘Invest in your hair It’s the only crown you never take off. And I absolutely agree with the statement. Hair plays an important part in shaping your overall personality, so taking care of them won’t do any harm. Long and strong hair is the dream of every woman and man. When you have strong and shiny hair, you can make any hairstyle you want. But if you have thin and weak hair, then you pick simple hairdos. Although, everyone wants to have thick and healthy hair how many of us invest in taking care of them?

Hair growth is a critical phenomenon. Many factors affect hair growth, for instance, genetics, age, health condition, and diet. Other factors include medication, treatments, and extreme weather. Anyhow, some of the factors cannot be controlled, such as aging and genetics but making a few changes in diet can do wonders for you.

Consuming healthy food is not only beneficial for hair growth but for your overall health. But what is healthy food? To be honest, in my personal opinion, every food is healthy, as God has not created things without any benefit. What makes a food healthy is the way we consume it, how much we use it and how we can get as much nutritional benefit as we could. This implies that we need to include foods that are healthy for hair and overall health.

Do you know your inner health is reflected through hair and skin? Your hair condition says a lot about your health. Hair is made up of a tough protein called keratin and can grow up to 0.5 inches each month.  Hair fall indicates that you lack the nutrients that are required for hair to grow. Pure nutrition leads to hair loss, so before spending money on expensive hair products, it is important to reconsider your eating habits and food intake.

Here are 10 Food for hair growth:

 1. Eggs:

Eggs are something that you would find on the top of the list whenever you’d search for foods that help in hair growth. They are the prime source of protein and biotin that help and trigger the growth of hair.

As mentioned earlier, hair is made up of proteins, and adding proteins to the diet leads to healthy hair.

Eggs are full of biotin, and biotin is the protein that provides the base to the keratin – the hair protein. Multiple research support and prove the relation between two proteins. Biotin boosts the production of keratin, and that is why we see many hair product companies marketing biotin-based products in the market.

 2. Oranges:

Whenever we think about extracting Vitamin C from food, the first name that comes to our mind is Oranges. They are a great source of Vitamin C – an essential ingredient for shiny hair. Apart from containing Vitamin C, oranges are rich in beta-carotene, flavonoids, and magnesium that work as a booster for hair growth. Oranges are recommended to those who are facing hair loss issues.

 3. Spinach:

The benefits of these green leaves are proven long ago. Spinach is a vegetable that is full of nutrients like folate, iron, and Vitamins A and C. All of them promote hair growth.

Vitamin A is known to produce sebum; healthy, natural oil that keeps the scalp moisturized which further helps in producing healthy hair.

Iron is another gift of spinach. We all know that Iron is critical in carrying out oxygen in blood throughout the body. This process fuels metabolism and helps in growing healthy and strong hair. Studies have shown that iron deficiencies are one of the main causes of hair loss or hair fall.

 4. Nuts and Seeds:

The omega-3 fatty acids aid in hair growth. Get your dose of omega-3 fatty acids through nuts and seeds. Nuts and seeds are providing healthy fats that our body cannot generate. Healthy fats are required to be consumed along with proteins in order to obtain healthy and strong hair.

Almonds and walnuts are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. Flaxseeds are usually used as a mid-meal snack and these seeds are full of healthy fats needed for healthy hair growth.

5. Apples:

An apple a day keeps a doctor away. It is because apples are filled with soluble fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants essential for health. Also, apples contain phenolic compound and biotin that provides the foundation for the keratin to grow and promotes natural hair growth.

 6. Soy Beans:

Soybeans and tempeh are foods that are derived from soy. Soybeans have Iron, Omega-3, Vitamin B2, and magnesium which contribute to hair growth. Another very interesting fact about soybeans is that it contains the property of stopping the production of dihydrotestosterone – a hormone that causes baldness and severe hair fall.

 7. Fatty Fish:

Salmon, herring, and mackerel are the fishes that are best consumed for hair growth. Rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids these fishes or products carrying these two fatty acids are said to be reducing hair loss and increasing the speed of growing hair. If you are facing a hair thinning issue, then start taking fish oil supplements.

Fatty fish has protein, selenium, vitamin D3 and B, and nutrients that help in producing strong and healthy hair.

 8. Avocados:

Avocados are delicious in taste but they are also full of nutrients and healthy fats that are needed in the hair growth process. They have vitamin E which works as an antioxidant and a study has revealed that people who started using vitamin E supplements have seen a decline in hair fall and an increase in growth in hair.

 9. Pineapples:

Loaded with Vitamin C, A, and beta-carotene, pineapples are perfect when taken for hair growth. They are best known to fight illness and ease the digestion process. Vitamin A generates oils that keep the scalp healthy.

 10. Citrus Fruits:

At this point, you must be thinking why I have included foods that are rich in Vitamin C. The reason is that Vitamin C helps iron to get absorbed in the blood. Another reason is that nutritionists around the world recommend eating one lime a day. It is said to be completing the dose of vitamin C in the body.

Include fruits that are rich in Vitamin C, such as lemon, oranges, and grapefruit. These citrus fruits produce collagen that makes capillaries which further connect to hair shafts and make it strong. Eating these fruits ensures the continuous supply of nutrients needed for strong hair.
